Work Control lead the way into the finals series. They had another win last weekend, over the Golfie Tigers.
Tigers went out to bat and stumbled to two for seven by the fifth over, but then Corey Hurford and Sam Williams came to the crease and took the score to 89.
Sam made 36 before he was caught off the bowling of Cameron Greenhalgh. Williams added 46 before he was caught off the bowling of Clayton King.
Unfortunately from there, the Tigers collapsed. Work Control’s Ray O’Brian claimed three wickets for none, Clayton King three for nine and Tigers were all out for 95.
Work Control’s opening batsmen Jamie Hoswell and Nick Greenhalgh passed that score in the 15th over.
In the other game at Grinsted, Postie also had a collapse against Masterstroke.
Postie made an acceptable start to the game, losing three wickets for 40 runs on a pitch that kept very low. But then they were all out for 53.
While that didn’t seem defensible, the wicket also took its toll in the second innings and Masterstroke was two for four.
From there, however, the Postie side was unlucky in the field. A lot of scoring shots could have been caught, but as the game played out Masterstroke won with three for 55.
This weekend’s games will be 40-over matches played on Saturday. Masterstroke will meet Tigers and Workcontrol meet VC Reid.
Tigers and VC Reid will both be looking for the win to secure their berth against Masterstroke in the A Grade semi finals.
The semi finals will be played on March 4 – as competition leaders, Work Control will get the week off to prepare for the first round of finals on March 11.
Forbes’ last Grinsted Cup challenge for the season is on March 5. It will be against Cowra at Cowra.
