In their first and most important show of the year, the team will take 10 steers to Sydney Olympic Park for eight days, with judging to take place from April 6.
Cattle Team Coordinator Susan Earl said the Easter Show was one of the biggest of the year, followed by the Upper Hunter Beef Bonanza.
The team will set up on Monday, before the steers are weighed, scanned and inspected on Tuesday.
Judging of the eight purebred school steers will take place from 8am on the Thursday and two trade steers will be judged from 9am on Friday, April 7.
Year 10’s Lilly Hand will represent RBCC in the school paraders competition.
With just over a week to go, Mrs Earl said the students are busy preparing the animals.
“One school steer has a bad injury to the foot, we are hoping he will come through.
“It is hard when your favourite steer gets hurt and you have worked on him for so long” she said.
Mrs Earl believes the Cattle Team students benefit from the agricultural activity in more ways than one.
“They get to experience a bigger world out there than Forbes.
“It is both a social and cultural experience and that is very important,” she said.
“I love it because not only is it a pretty special competition to be a part of but also for Forbes kids it gives them a chance to mix, to learn more about the cattle industry and see Sydney.”
According to the Royal Agricultural Society of NSW, The Sydney Royal Cattle Show is considered to be one of the most prominent and prestigious cattle shows in Australia.
“Sydney Royal Competitions set the benchmark for agricultural excellence that underpins Australia's agricultural performance ensuring a viable and prosperous future for our rural communities.
“For Sydney Royal competitors, a win is testament of achievement at the highest level,” the RAS website states.
“It is recognition of dedication, ability, uncompromising diligence and sheer hard work.”
Up to 30 breeds of Beef cattle will compete in the Sydney Royal Cattle Show, with up to 1,200 nominations and attracting exhibitors from all over Australia.
Last October the Red Bend Cattle Team took home the Supreme Champion Exhibit title at the Upper Hunter Beef Bonanza in Scone.
