‘A Best Of Regional Art Exhibition’ is open March 17 to 25. There is no entry fee but you are welcome to support the art raffle.
This colossal exhibition is a celebration of both local and regional artists, dear and near to the hearts of the Forbes Arts Society.
Many of the artists presented have shared their skills and knowledge by running arts workshops in town for the community at the request of Forbes Arts Society.
These artists, and others have impressed as advocates of arts growth and development in the Central West and it is exciting to have their works gathered in one space, at the glorious Forbes Town Hall.
There are more than 200 works of art on display, including paintings, sculptures, woven basketry, ceramics and pottery.
Some of the artists exhibiting are; Brett Mon Garling, David Isbester, Pol Cruz, David Lake, Robert Keen, Wanda Driscoll, Elsie Mahon, Jennie Foster, Ted Lewis, Glen Morton and Ann Morton and so many more.
The intricacy and depths of detail in Ann Morton’s work is exceptional and having the opportunity to view her work in person is glorious. Ann is quoted as saying “ … the important thing is that I really just try to create inspiringly beautiful paintings!” Her work is breathtaking and not to be missed.
The manner in which David Isbester captures light in his artworks is masterful. His works beam out at the viewer and it is easy to see why his work is progressively and eagerly collected.
The society’s members have also been requested to exhibit their best new works and the calibre of the local entries is exciting.
“This will be the Arts Society’s largest exhibition at the Town Hall this year, and most of the future planned exhibitions will be presented at the Platypus Gallery in Lachlan Street,” said key organiser and local artist, Pammie Thomson.
Forbes Arts Society President, Keith Mullette added, “The arts are well and truly alive in Forbes and our town is gaining quite a reputation regionally as an emerging arts hub”.
You can catch the exhibition at the Forbes Town Hall in Harold Street, between 10am and 4pm daily this week and it will close to the public at 2pm on Saturday 25 March.
