Hundreds of keen triathletes will flock to Forbes this weekend for the Elite Energy Forbes Triathlon Festival, to swim, cycle and run on our fast, flat triathlon course.

Elite Energy’s Sebastian Gallery said even though the event had been condensed into one day, participants, who are travelling from all over New South Wales and Victoria, are expected to stay in town.
“It is expected that the weekend will bring in well over $500,000 to the local economy as participants from across NSW and VIC descend on Forbes for a weekend full of running, cycling and family fun,” Mr Gallery said.
“Being the leading triathlon event operator in NSW has seen us build a substantial following of triathletes and we are excited to introduce them as well as the locals to what will be a fantastic weekend of racing for all ages and abilities,” he said.
Elite Energy CEO, Mark Emerton, is looking forward to the group’s first Central West event.
“We are thrilled to be able to bring a weekend full of events to the area and forming a strong relationship with the Forbes Shire Council and the people local to this great region.
“We look forward to welcoming hundreds of athletes from across NSW for a schedule of racing and fun that provides participation opportunities for athletes of all levels and abilities,” he said.
The triathlon festival kicks off at 8am with The Ultimate Triathlon (1.9k swim, 90k bike and 21.1k run), the newest entrant into half Iron distance triathlon racing and a favourite for long course triathletes.
The Ultimate Triathlon series has events in seven locations across Australia. Forbes is the sixth of the series and it is expected to be hotly contested as one of the last long course races on the Southern hemisphere calendar.
Other events on the day include Standard distance (1.5km swim/40km bike/10k run), Sprint Triathlon (750m swim, 20k bike and 5k run), Enforcer (400m swim/15km bike/4k run), Enticer Triathlon (200m swim/7.5km bike/2k run) and Miniman for Kids Triathlon(100m swim, 3k ride, and 0.5k run).
Forbes Mayor Graeme Miller said he looked forward to the weekend of activity.
“The triathlon is set to bring a high number of participants from across NSW and having Elite Energy Events on board will add to the professionalism of the event. It will be a great weekend for the whole family whether you are a competitor or a spectator.”
The Forbes Aquatic Centre will be closed to the general public on April 1.
