The Armstrong Siddeley Car Club of Australia is coming to Forbes for its 50th anniversary rally and a feature of the weekend will be the Concours d’Elegance in Harold Street from 9am to midday Saturday.
The club’s president Hugh Boulter says the luxury vehicles – not quite a Rolls Royce but certainly a classy vehicle - were hand-built in England from 1919-1960.
Mr Boulter will be travelling to Forbes in the car used in the royal tour of New Zealand in 1954. Another of the vehicles expected belonged to New Zealand’s Governor General.
The company is also known for its aircraft engines and its post-war car models – the Typhoon, the Landcaster, the are named after the war-time fighter jets.
Mr Boulter said about 50-60 members, with 20 cars, were expected to travel to Forbes for the weekend. All welcome Saturday to view the vehicles and find out more.
