Forbes Anzac Services start at 5.30am

On Tuesday, Forbes will join the rest of the nation to commemorate Anzac Day.

Commemorations will start in Forbes with the dawn service at 5.30am. Marchers are asked to assemble at Forbes Services Memorial Club at 5.15am, for a 5.20am march start to the Cenotaph in Victoria Park. 

The service will be followed by breakfast at the club.

Marchers for the mid-morning service are asked to assemble at 10am in Cross Street, for a 10.15am start to the Cenotaph via Lachlan Street.

This service will see the traditional observations including wreath laying, minute’s silence, the playing of the Reveille and the Last Post by bugler Aaron Parry.

Joelene Jones will deliver the Prayer of Thanksgiving, Alexander Boyton the Prayer for the Queen, Forbes mayor Graeme Miller will deliver the Prayer for the Nation.

Glen White (Retired WO Class 2) will make the commemorative address, while John Schrader will deliver the Commemoration of the Fallen. 

WO White served from September 1987 until August 2014.

He was deployed to Malaysia, East Timor, Sinai Egypt, Cambodia and Iraq during his time with the service.

The order of the march is as follows; 

Forbes Primary School, Bedgerabong Primary School, Forbes North Primary School, St Laurences School, Early Childhood Centres (BrightBeginning, Good Start, Learning Ladder and Outside School Care), Forbes High School, Red Bend Catholic College Drum Corps, Red Bend Catholic College, Forbes Dreaming Centre, St John First Aid service, veteran’s cars and taxis, Forbes Town Band, flag party, catafalque party, ex-service personnel, ambulance, rural fire services, SES members and safety vehicle.

Lunch will follow at the Forbes Services Memorial Club, and traditional two-up games will commence at 2.30pm. The day will conclude with a flag lowering ceremony at 5pm.

Eugowra commemorations

The Eugowra service will be held at 11am at the cenotaph in Memorial Park, on the corner of Cooper and North streets.
