The day began with our Advocate-sponsored march past of teams from West Haven from Dubbo, Life Without Barriers from Orange, Lachlan House With No Steps Forbes and Parkes, Currajong Enterprises from Forbes, Parkes, and surrounding areas and for the first time and the winners on the day, Forbes Primary School Special Unit.
Mr Brian Tisdell on the pipes commenced (and then had a system failure) then wow oh wow! the magnificent Red Bend College drum band took over.
They were terrific, magnificent drummers that moved the whole gymnasium. Thank you, what a privilege to watch and hear their very first public performance.
If you get the chance to see and hear them perform, don’t miss it. What a magnificent asset to our important Red Bend College.
I would also like to thank Molly Nelson and her student and local helpers for a great job in the canteen, Jacqueline Coady for her neverending assistance and support over many years, OCTEC Limited and the Bernardie family, Phil Donato MP, Mayor Graeme Miller and especially the students and teachers of Red Bend Catholic College – we could not run such a successful day without you all.
Mark the first Wednesday in May 2018 and come along and see for yourself.
Dianne Decker, Forbes
