The club’s Phil Prior said the club had plenty to work on after their last-minute win over Parkes last weekend, but there were positives from the clash.
“We did it tough, we left it until the last 30 seconds,” he said.
“But it showed me that there’s a bit of bulldog in us, we can fight for 80 minutes.”
Last week’s win puts Forbes in fourth place on the Blowes Clothing Cup ladder with three wins to their credit while Mudgee’s 2017 side is yet to taste victory.
But the Platypi will never take their opponents for granted.
They’ve continued to work on their line-outs and fitness this week.
The Wombats went down to Orange Emus 40-7 last weekend, but commentators said the scoreline didn’t reflect the host side’s efforts.
“Going over to Mudgee, we’re going with the mindset that we have to fight for the win,” Prior said.
Colts will take the field first about 12.45pm, followed by reserve grade – or the “wolf pack” as Prior prefers to call them.
“Our colts are going really well,” Prior said.
“They’ve got good numbers at training and Darian Hazell is doing a great job with them.
“The wolf pack is also strong – numbers are strong and the quality is good.”
The Platypi bus for Mudgee is leaving Forbes Inn at 8.30am sharp.
First grade 3.15pm.
