Since their 64-20 win against the Wellington Cowboys in a home game two weeks ago, Magpies Captain-Coach Jake Grace said the last few training sessions have revolved around improving line speed and control around the ruck.
“We’re pretty much looking to make sure that we have picked up in that area.
“If we control the ruck we’ll be right,” Grace said.
“We did also practice a little bit of ad lib footy that we will probably continue to work on.”
Despite Westside’s shellacking from Dubbo CYMS in round one, the Magpies are focused on improving their own game and staying level-headed.
“We are only worrying about us, they copped a hiding last week but we’re not going to expect it,” Grace said.
With no reported injuries, the team is raring to go.
“We’re pretty much on song at this stage. At the moment we’re looking at pretty much the same side as round one.”
League Tag
The League Tag team is also ready for round two.
“Obviously we are going to have a different game plan going into Westside – they are a stronger team. “We’re starting to build some really strong connection through the girls.
“There’s a lot of trust within each other which means our defence will better,” Captain Amy Townsend said.
