Platypi’s Phil Prior said Mudgee was struggling, but the Platypi did step up significantly from their early form to play well and particularly in the second half.
“It was a very, very big improvement from us,” he said.
“The Emus only beat them by 40 points the week before and the Emus are the yardstick side.
“Our scrum absolutely mauled them, it continues to be very strong.
“The weaknesses we have been working on, our training really paid dividends this week.”
The win puts Forbes’ first grade side in third place on the ladder.
The Orange Emus lead with 25 points after five wins, Bathurst has 23 points after five wins.
Forbes is on 20 points after four wins and one loss.
Forbes also won the second grade clash 22-15.
Mudgee was ahead 12-7 in the Colts when the game was called off due to a player injury – a Mudgee player sustained a broken leg - in the first half of the game. The points will be split but the cancellation was disappointing.
