Brockmann versus Brockmann, Orange City’s Logan against Forbes’ Nedd.
The Brockmann brothers will face each other for the very first time in Saturday’s round six clash at Grinsted Oval, and as you’d expect with family bragging rights on the line, they can’t wait.
“We’ve already been giving it to each other a bit,” Logan laughed.
“Everyone knows how it is, we’re just a couple of brothers wanting to get one up on each other.
“We’ve played together at Orange City in the colts a few years ago but never against each other, we’re both looking forward to it.”
Those bragging rights fall with Nedd at the moment, he’s directed traffic in Forbes’ No.10 jersey all season, leading the Platypi to four wins from five games and third spot.
Logan’s Lions are sitting seventh, with a two and three record.
“As annoying as it is to say, I probably have to admit he’s got the bragging rights. Forbes are going along pretty well,” Logan said, reluctantly.
”But that gives me a bit of extra motivation to try and get my boys over the line.”
Logan, skippering Orange City, has been playing No.8 and being in the back row again would ensure the pair would come together quite often. He’s not though, he’s shifting into the front row.
“Oh, I’ll still be going looking for him though,” Logan laughed.
“We’ve got a lot of injuries that came from last weekend’s local derby, we’ve lost our 10, 12, 13, loosehead prop and hooker so we’re battling a bit.
“It makes it a lot tougher but I don’t think Forbes will be at full strength either, I think their NSW Country boys are away.
“That won’t make it any easier though.”
Logan said he’s hoping his side’s fitness will give them an edge, particularly if it buckets down like the forecast suggests it will.
“That’s what we’re looking for, we’re hoping our fitness will be a big factor in getting us home,” he explained.
“We’ve been working really hard on our scrummaging too, so we’ll try to keep improving there. Our structures aren’t too complicated, so we’re hopeful the replacements can fit in reasonably seamlessly and do the job.”
Orange City will confirm its starting XV on Friday.
