Forbes Neighbourhood Watch Inc invited school students to submit poster designs for an art competition last year and winners were announced on White Ribbon Day.
Now the top designs have been made into stickers for our bins.
To be part of the campaign, contact NHW president Lyn Ward on 0417 536 619.
You will need to provide your name, address, phone number and bin collection day.
Volunteers will affix the stickers (they need to properly prepare the surface).
You can choose “We watch out for our neighbours” by Phoebe Walker or the winning senior entry, “Help Stop Domestic Violence” by Brielle Thornton.
Neighbourhood Watch Forbes meets on the first Monday of every month.
Meetings start at 2pm at the Forbes Services Memorial Club.
Crime prevention
NHW and NSW Police have a number of resources and considerable information available to help you improve home and business security.
Some of the home security advice available at police.nsw.gov.au includes:
■ Fit quality security doors, windows, locks, alarms, lighting and warning signs
■ Secure all windows and doors, lock gates, sheds and garages
■ Activate your alarm, smoke detectors and security lighting.
■ Keep trees and shrubs trimmed to improve visibility around your home
■ Lock away items such as ladders, tools and gardening equipment.
■ Don’t leave spare keys outside the home.
■ Don’t leave valuables, mobile devices or keys (home or vehicle) in clear view.
■ Mark valuable property and record details.
If you’re going away:
■ Use a timer to activate an internal light or radio.
■ Have family, a trusted friend or neighbour check on your home, park a vehicle in the driveway, collect the garbage bins and mail.
■ Never advertise your travel on social media sites.
