Numbers at Monday’s cattle sale eased due to the surrounding area receiving up to 35mm of rainfall and quality was fair to good. The yearlings, heavy grown steers and cows were well supplied, as the usual orders competed in a firm to dearer market.

The 200kg plus vealer steers returning to the paddock ranged from 338c to 396c/kg. The medium weight yearling steers to lot feeder orders lifted 9c, making from 340c to 372c/kg. The good quality heavier end reached 369c/kg.
The medium weight yearling heifers to feeder orders lifted 8c, ranging from 300c to 347c/kg, depending on breed. Prime conditioned younger cattle to the trade lifted 7c, with the best topping at 346c/kg.
The heavy weight grain assisted milk teeth steers to the exporters remained close to firm at 310c to 321c/kg.
A charity steer donated to the Sir Ivan bushfire appeal topped the sale at 410c/kg.
Numbers jumped at Tuesday’s sheep and lamb sale with both lamb and mutton showing the increase. Lamb quality was improved from the previous sale with a better run of well finished and grain assisted lambs on offer. Heavy and extra heavy weight lambs made up the majority of the yarding. The usual buyers were present and competing in dearer market.
Light lambs held steady to average $120/head. Trade weights were $4 to $6 dearer with prices ranging from $128 to $163/head.
Heavy and extra heavy weights were well supplied and quality was good. Prices lifted $4 to $5 with heavy lambs selling from $154 to $173 and extra heavies made from $163 to $241/head. Carcase prices averaged from 634c to 671c/kg cwt.
