Forbes’ firsts won 73-7, the “wolf pack” 94-0 and Colts 55-5 at Grinsted Oval in Round 7 of the Blowes Clothing Cup.
The club’s Phil Prior said it was a great day for the club with a good turn crowd.
“Cowra is struggling, it happens to small towns every now and then,” Prior said.
“But they brought a pretty handy first 15.
“It was a good hit-out, it was still pretty physical.”
One of the highlights for Prior was the Platypi’s persistance – they didn’t slacken off when they got a good lead.
“It was pleasing to see our ability to keep scoring,” he said.
The Platypi continue to dominate the scrum, with performances by Brenton Howarth and Nathan Langilangi drawing the long-time coach and mentor’s praise.
“Ned Brockmann as well, he is outstanding,” Prior added. “He is a very exciting young prospect.”
Coach Heamani Lavaka took the opportunity on Saturday to give some of the players on the bench a run and with pleasing results.
Brad McMillan was strong as was Andrew Hubbard – who had pulled out earlier in the week due to illness but played half a game.
The Platypi are back to the grind at training Tuesday night, preparing to meet the so far undefeated Bathurst Bulldogs at Bathurst this weekend.
“We know this will be a tough road trip so our focus is on Bathurst now,” Prior said.
Bathurst beat Dubbo Rhinos 53-5 at Dubbo on the weekend, taking 2nd grade honours 83-0 and the Colts win 65-0 as well.
They are in second place on the ladder behind the also undefeated Orange Emus, but Forbes is only two points away with just one loss from seven games.
Forbes’ wolf pack also sits in third place on the second grade ladder with six wins to their credit.
“It’s early in the season, but they are very much in the hunt for the end prize,” Prior said.
Our Colts sit in fourth with four wins and two losses.
In the weekend’s other first grade games: CSU Bathurst went down to Orange City 21-36; Dubbo defeated Mudgee 102-0; Parkes went down to the Emus 0-101.
