This Sunday, Forbes Magpies and Forbes Platypi will go head to head at Forbes Sport and Rec Club and all players, ex players and followers of both football codes are cordially invited.
We're a very fortunate town. The Magpies and Platypi get on well together, for our little village, it's all about playing for your town.
- Phil Prior, 1st Grade Forbes Platypi Manager and Platypi Old Boy.
The day will begin at 10am and will consist of triples bowls, 100 club, spin the wheel, a raffle, small auction and meat trays to be won.
First Grade Platypi Manager Phil Prior said Forbes was unlike most towns which experience code rivalry.
“We are very lucky. They have all grown up together and gone to school together,” Mr Prior said.
Sport and Rec Club Manager Norm Cook was excited to see both clubs compete for the trophy again for the first time since 2002.
“I am looking forward to a good day,” he said.
Cost: $10 per person – lunch included. All proceeds go towards the Forbes Prostrate Awareness committee. Major sponsors include Men of League, Magpies Old Boys and Platypi Old Boys.
