Platypi have seven wins this season to the Rhinos’ three … but Phil Prior isn’t underestimating the visiting side.
The side is much improved on previous form, but has battled in recent weeks and went down to Parkes before the long weekend.
“I reckon they’ve been unlucky, just from what I’ve read,” Prior said.
“They’ve put a few points on teams so their ability to score tries is there.”
The Platypi will be without Charlie French this weekend – he’s playing for the Country Cockatoos against ACT Provincial in Canberra.
But they beat Bathurst Bulldogs without the big prop in the last round, Prior says the side has plenty of depth.
They will need it, after the general bye on the long weekend, they are settling in to 10 weeks of solid competition footy.
“We’ve got a pretty hefty program now, we enjoyed the time off,” Prior said.
“There were a few bumps and bruises that just needed that rest.”
The club not only has depth in its first grade side, the wolf pack is sitting in second on the second grade Blowes Clothing Cup ladder so there is plenty of skill there too.
“They’re getting great numbers at training – about 25 – they are great and that’s great for the club,” Prior said.
Games Saturday Grinsted Oval: Colts from 12.45; seconds 2pm and firsts 3.15pm.
