Finishing in a time of five and a half hours, Yvonne was very emotional when she reached the Dreaming Centre for a final time at 9:15am.
“I cuddled my mother and bawled my eyes out,” she said. “I was buggered, my hands and feet swelled up and my legs still kill. But it was worth it, it was a very good day.”
Ron’s sister Jenny Wardrop travelled to Forbes from Brisbane to support Yvonne.
“This is a monumental effort on her behalf,” she said.
“The woman just has such a big heart, she is such a generous supporter and never expects anything in return. We are eternally grateful for what she has done.”
Mrs Wardrop said Ron, who was diagnosed in March with terminal cancer, was very thankful.
“The money that Yvonne raised is going to help with ongoing house and medical expenses,” she said.
“It was such a humbling experience to actually realise how much my brother has touched people’s lives. My brother is leaving this awesome legacy behind him.”
