A good supporter has been Peter.W.Stanley and the Bathurst trainer combined with Hawkesbury based Ings to win the Ronald McDonald House Benchmark 55 Handicap (1100 metres) with Flying By at Cowra on Saturday.
Positioned behind the leaders, Flying By ($6.50) emerged at the right time to win from Unshinkable (Daniel Pitomac, $31).
Second leg of a winning double for Chelsea Ings was the Brett Thompson,Gulgong trained Coasting ($3.60) which led most of the way to beat Miss Blusparks (Kayla Nisbet, $7.50) in the Class 1 Handicap, 950 metres.
Bookmakers were saved from a big payout when another Chelsea Ings mount, Vicissitudes, failed by a half neck to overhaul Thin Ice in the Maiden Plate, 1200 metres.
Fielding on course, one bookmaker accepted a bet of $6,200 to $200 (each way) on Viccisitudes while the same punter asked for a straight out bet of $6,200 to $200 from another bookie.
The Gayna Williams, Mudgee trained Thin Ice (Allen Chau, 21.00) set the pace and held on to score from Vicissitudes ($31) which came from near the back of the field with a strong finish along the rails.
Allen Chau and Gayna Williams brought up a double when Dapperized ($4 favourite) sprinted from midfield to win the National Jockeys Trust Class 2 Handicap (1375 metres) from Fairy Shadow (Ken Dunbar, $9).
On a day of doubles, Yass trainer Allan McRae and Berrigan jockey Bradley Vale combined to win with Sarona Downs ($3.60 fav.) and Valorhesse ($5).
