Trained by talented horseman, Adam Bellach at Forbes, the five year old started at the attractive odds of $8.20 and produced a very tough effort to take out the Hog’s Australia Steakhouse Pace (1720m) in a smart 1.59.5.
After settling at the tail of the field, Give Me Fifty was set alight for a long and searching run from the bell by his regular driver Angela Hedges and one by one, the gelding picked off his rivals before dashing clear over the concluding stages of the event to score by just over three and a half metres.
Limbo Larry ($3.70, Graham Betts) and Carl Slim Dada ($8.60, Nathan Turnbull) fought out the minor placings.
Give Me Fifty is raced by a group of well-known Forbes owners including Adam Bellach, David Teale (of Bundanoon fame), former Forbes Diggers HRC President Rob Parsons, former Newsagent Geoff Parry and his daughter Leanne Feringa.
Since joining the Adam Bellach and Jude Wright stable, Give Me Fifty has raced 11 times for a win, three third, two fourth and three fifth placings.
Another Dubbo winner of interest for Forbes-ites was Oakridge Mae which is owned, trained and driven by Robert Clifford, the filly started at bolter’s odds, paying $91.50 on the NSW TAB.
Village Angel was narrowly beaten into second placing in race three at Dubbo for trainer Jason Gaffney and driver Murray Sullivan.
Pacing at Parkes this Sunday. Free entry.
