Post Office hotel bartender Tyler Ehsman has taken on the UGLY Bartender challenge, fundraising this month for the Leukaemia Foundation.
And new manager Doug Pout has promised that if the effort raises $5000 for the good cause, he will shave his beard.
“It’s going to be a little bit scary for everyone,” he said.
“I’ve been growing this beard out since September but I’d had it for four years – I’ve always had facial hair.
“People might be asking, who’s this 16-year-old?”
Pout took on management of the Postie in November last year and reckons the regulars won’t recognise him if the shave goes ahead.
While he’s recently arrived back in town, he’s a familiar face in Forbes though, the son of former resident Murray Pout and a graduate of Red Bend Catholic College.
The Postie has joined the annual Leukaemia Foundation fundraiser for they believe the first time: despite what it sounds like, UGLY actually stands for Understanding. Generous. Likeable. You.
Each year bartenders across Australia help to beat blood cancer by raising money for the Leukaemia Foundation to provide its vital accommodation service.
You can donate at the Postie at any time, the fundraising campaign will conclude with a fun night and the great shave on the last weekend in August.
“Neville Allen is coming around to do the cut, we will have raffles and all the rest on the night,” Doug said.
Follow the Postie on Facebook to keep up to date.
Also coming up, on Friday August 18 the Postie is hosting a comedy night with all proceeds to the Magpies Rugby League football club.
The $40 cover charge gives you a two-course meal and a great night with funny men Mick Meredith, Chris Franklin and Jaques Barrett. Doors open at 7pm.
