Scores were locked at 16-all with 15 minutes to go in the game, it was Forbes who broke through 10 minutes later and held on to win.
The hosts, in second place on the ladder in Round 14 of the competition, put the first points on the board 23 minutes in to the first half of the game.
Kristian Markwort went over for his second try eight minutes later and Forbes looked good with a 10-nil lead.
Parkes responded with two quick tries to lead 12-10 at the end of the first half.
It was the visitors who scored first in the second half of the game, taking a 16-10 lead eight minutes in.
Haydn Raumati crossed in the corner – and a tricky conversion was nailed – to even the scores with 15 minutes to go.
Raumati crossed again in the corner – but the kick fell away – for Forbes to lead 20-16 five five minutes to go.
Forbes held Parkes out and ran off winners at full time.
