Police were called to a street in Forbes about 10am Saturday where they arrested the young person.
A police spokesperson said the young person had not proceeded to damage property or injure anyone with the weapon.
The juvenile was released on bail to appear in children’s court.
A distinctive golf putter was stolen from the golf club sheds on Sunday night.
The putter has a white shaft and a St George Dragons handle.

In a separate matter, police confiscated a home-made slingshot from a minor.
A police spokesperson said a community member reported the slingshot to them and they confiscated it.
The 16-year-old told police they did not know it was a prohibited weapon.
Staff at a local retail store have reported an allegation of attempted fraud to police.
It is alleged a man went into the store on Saturday afternoon, got an electrical item off the shelf and took it to the counter to ask for a refund.
The staff refused and asked for a receipt. The man returned on Sunday, saying he had not been able to locate his receipt.
