There’s just two weeks now until the annual event, with gardeners hoping for rain to put the finishing touches on their preparations for this year’s exhibition.

Eight gardeners are opening their gates for one day only this year.

They range from rambling country gardens, native gardens through to true cottage gardens, with plenty of inspiration for other gardeners to find.

You never know where you might find “just the idea” for your corner, front fence or that tricky spot.

Open gardeners in Forbes are also traditionally very happy to chat and offer advice on how they have established certain plants and areas.

This is the Forbes Horticultural Society and Garden Club’s 10^th annual open gardens and they appreciate those who have shared their gardens for the event over the years.

Entry to all gardens on the day costs $20, or individual gardens are $5 per person per garden.

Proceeds raised on the day are distributed between charities of the garden owners’ choice.

Head to Forbes North Public School from 9am on September 30 to get your wrist band and map to the day’s open gardens.

Gardens are open from 9.30am to 5pm on the day, with lunch also to be on offer at one of the gardens.
