“You go around the world, I’ve played a bit of footy, but there’s nothing better than coming back and winning with your mates,” Coles said.
“It’s unreal.”
Coles was enormous for Forbes in his return to the club mid-season, and was, as expected, a focal point of the Platypi attack on Saturday.
His barnstorming charges resulted in a try at a crucial point in the decider.
But despite helping lift Forbes from a four-point deficit to a 25-17 lead nearing the end of the clash, the influential No.8 says he and his teammates couldn’t afford any little lapses at the death.
“I didn’t know how long there was left. It just kept going,” he said.
“Orange Emus always comes back at you. We just defending like our lives were on the line and come away with the goods.”
