13 students from Red Bend are attending the bonanza and will be entering 12 steers into the event.
The bonanza is held in the town of Scone and runs from Friday 27 October to Sunday 29 October.
The steers which will be entered into the Bonanza were purchased off a local breeder and were selected for entry into the event.
The cattle team have been busy breaking in, cleaning and brushing the steers in preparation for entry into this year’s Bonanza.
In last year’s Bonanza, the school won the category for the best live steer and are hoping to win it again this year.
During their most recent tour, the team have gone to shows across the region including Tullamore, Bedgerabong, Eugowra and Parkes.
As part of this tour, the team picked up several ribbons in various categories, but their biggest win was at the Eugowra Show where they won the supreme exhibit of the show.
Four students from the cattle team have qualified for the Sydney Royal Easter Show for parading during this tour.
Cattle team coordinator Susan Earl said it was really nice to finish off the tour on that note.
As part of their recent tour, the cattle team entered various different breeds of bovines, of which some were lent to the school for their use.
Mrs Earl said it was good for the students to have a go with different breeds so they get a good range of experience for the future.
