Police believe the man and a woman had a physical confrontation in the front yard of a York Street residence about 8.55am Wednesday.
They are appealing for anyone who witnessed the incident and can help them with investigations to contact them.
They have highlighted that families would have been dropping children at a nearby school about that time.
In another matter, police have charged a 36-year-old woman with menacing driving, malicious damage and assault after she allegedly rammed another vehicle in a neighbourhood dispute.
Police were called to Scrivener Street about 6.30pm Thursday to numerous reports of a neighbour dispute that had turned into a physical confrontation.
Police allege the woman walked from the house and punched the window of a vehicle, then got in her own car and intentionally rammed it into another vehicle.
Police arrested the woman, who they said appeared to be “moderately intoxicated”, she was conveyed to Forbes Hospital for treatment of injuries sustained in the collision and blood testing.
