It’s not often a show set in the late 1970s can still be as potently relevant in 2017.
9 to 5 The Musical – presented by the Parkes Musical & Dramatic Society during October – is based on the hit movie of the same name.
Set in the late 1970s this hilarious story of friendship and revenge is outrageous, thought-provoking and even a little romantic.
Pushed to the boiling point, three female co-workers concoct a plan to get even with the sexist, egotistical, lying, hypocritical bigot they call their boss, Franklin Hart Jnr (played by Greg Ballantyne).
In a hilarious turn of events, Violet (played by Angie Drooger), Judy (played by Brittni Carroll) and Doralee (played by Erin O’Leary) live out their wildest fantasy – giving their boss the boot!
While Hart remains “otherwise engaged”, the women go about setting things straight!
“The cast have been working hard for close to three months,” director Belinda McGrath said.
“There’s lots of energy and lots of singing and dancing.
“We’ve got some favourites back up on stage and a few new faces too. The band have put in a lot of hours of practice, people are going to love this show.”
Belinda is ably assisted by Brittni Carroll and the musical director is James Whalan.
The show will open on Friday, October 13 and closes on Saturday, October 28.
