Mr Loane has been selected from amongst an extremely strong field of candidates and will commence duties on Monday, November 13.
“Forbes Shire Council has undertaken a lengthy and rigorous recruitment process aimed at finding the right person who will work with us to drive this community forward,” said Mayor of the Forbes Shire, Graeme Miller.
“Mr Loane comes to us with a wealth of experience in both the public and private sectors and we’re delighted to welcome him aboard.”
Mr Loane comes to Forbes Shire Council after six years as the General Manager of Warrumbungle Shire Council, Forbes Council said in a press released issued on Friday morning.
He has extensive experience in senior management with Naracoorte Lucindale Council.
Mayor Miller said his experience in councils of similar size and scale would position Mr Loane to deal with the challenges of the Forbes Shire.
In addition he also spent years at the helm of the Australian Livestock Marketing Association and is the organisation’s first life member.
“The livestock industry and in particular the Central West Livestock Exchange is crucial to the economic fortunes of this Shire and it’s another reason why Mr Loane is such a good fit for this community,” Mayor Miller said.
Mr Loane is a licensed stock and station agent, has a Diploma of Agriculture and spent years as the Director of his stock and station agency.
Mayor Miller said it will be with sadness that Forbes farewells Acting General Manager, Max Kershaw.
Mr Kersaw has served two stints with Forbes Shire Council in the past 18 months: immediately following the resignation of GM Brian Steffan and then following the resignation of Danny Green 12 months later.
On this occasion, he has been sitting in the GM’s chair since Mr Green resigned at the start of September.
“Max has done an amazing job during his time as Acting General Manager,” Mayor Miller said.
“He has helped the organisation through a time of change and for that we are truly grateful.”
Shortly before Mr Green’s resignation, Council’s director of corporate services also left Forbes Shire Council.
Council has deferred the recruitment of that role until the new general manager starts.
Forbes Shire Council’s public meetings are on the third Thursday of the month, the next meeting is at 1pm at the Council chambers on November 16.
The December meeting has been brought forward to Thursday December 14.
