The Men of League Bentick Trophy: The handicap singles Bentick Trophy is underway. Sid Morris had a two point win against Alison Cutcliffe in a tight game. Viv Russell picked up a strong win from Don Hodson. In a scratch match Ron finished in front of Peter. Lyall Strudwick had a win against Brian Joliffe. Then Paul Baker defeated Gunna.

The finals of the A and B Pairs & mixed pairs are getting closer with some of the matches to be played tomorrow.
Wednesday at One: They tell me that Barry Wright couldn’t do a thing wrong last Wednesday. Barry with his partner Ray Sanderson took on and defeated the handy team of Kerry Dunstan and Barry Shine, with a tight 15:14 result. Bill Looney and Fred Vogelsang, the underdogs, had a nice 17:11 victory from Jim Maloy and Sid Morris.
Trevor Currey, Bobby Grant and Alf Davies make a good team and came away with an 18:14 win from three handy players in Laurie Crouch, John Gorton and Ray Dunstan. Rad Stevens and Col Breaden picked up a close 17:14 win from Christian West and Bill O’Connell.
Thursday arvo: Last Thursday we had six rinks full. There was Allan Affleck and Viv Russell teamed up with a close 25:20 win from Paul Hodge and Glen Kearney. Clive Herbert and Billy Adams went out with a slow start but overtook Wayne Moon and Al Phillips for a close victory.
Ernie Egan and Lyall Strudwick led all the way from Max Vincent and Tony Bratton. Graeme Mowbray and Darryl Griffiths also led all the way for a win from Ron Symons and Ralph Waugh. Bobby Grant, welcome back Bobby, and Grant Lambert defeated Christian West and Merv Langfield. Cherie Vincent and Peter Brogan combined well for a win from Allan Hilder and Harvey Elliott. Well done all players.
Friday night: Team Homerun won the winning rink with a victory over Wrights and Wrongs. The losing rink went to MG’s when they were defeated by one shot by the Three Amigos. In another close game HE Silo finished two shots ahead of Bedgerebong 1. The 80’s played well and defeated Bedgerebong 2.
Jack Attack Tonight: New younger players are invited to the new game of Jack Attack. It will be played separate to the normal Friday Night Bowls on another green. Names will need to be in by 6.00 for a 6.30 start. It’s fast and it’s a lot of fun with teams of three or individual names. Some call it Bare Foot Bowls but it is fine to wear flat sole sneakers or thongs.
Sunday morning bowls: By The Pom. Last Sunday we had a good roll up of 30 players enjoy the lovely weather. Twenty eight players contested the first round of the Gator Merritt Trophy. Resting touchers: Peter Greenhalgh, Lyall Strudwick, Connie Skinner, Peter Tisdell and Clive Herbert.
The winning rink went to Clive Herbert and Rod Howarth while the losing rink went to John Lasker and Lyall Strudwick. Round two of the Merritt Trophy is played this Sunday. Keep playing your Bentick singles at any time. See you next week.
