But on Thursday the prodigiously talented Forbes, Western Rams and NSW Country league star was a shining light on the cricket field.
The Red Bend Catholic College student smashed 65 with the bat then took 4-24 as the Forbes-based school defeated James Sheahan Catholic High School in the second round of the NSW Combined Catholic Colleges open boys’ knockout at Orange.
After winning the toss and batting, Glasheen helped Red Bend set a total of 239, contributions from Harry Leadbitter (31), Rory Dean (27), Jonah Ruzgas (25) and a handy 41 from No.8 Luke McDean launching the visitors beyond the 200-mark.
McDean’s and Glasheen’s seventh wicket stand of 93 helped take the game away from the hosts.
Angus Howarth was the best of the Sheahan bowlers at Jack Brabham Park, nabbing 3-26 including the wicket of Glasheen.
In pursuit, Sheahan’s foundation was solid at 0-40 into the fifth over, but once Joey Kay (22) and fellow opener Ben Winslade (21) fell in quick succession, the Orange boys failed to mount a serious challenge on the Red Bend total.
Harry West was the best of the bats with 56, while Glasheen’s four-for was aided by hauls from Darcy Leadbitter (3-26) and Cameron Smith (2-20) in the 74-run win.
Sheahan defeated La Salle Lithgow in their opening round clash and Redbend knocked off St Johns Dubbo to progress to Thursday’s round two clash.
The Forbes school will now play Wagga’s Mater Dei in the third round.
