Jenna Redfern, Fletcher Browne, Matilda Crawley and Lauren Neilsen from Kristen’s Dance Studio in Forbes are amongst 26 students selected to be part of monthly workshops with top dance teachers this year.

The program is designed to bring the most dedicated dancers in the Central West together to learn from the industry’s top teachers, as well as promote friendships through the regional dance community. 

All the teachers have been hand-picked for their knowledge and longevity in the dance world. 

The program will give its participants the opportunity to make contacts and learn from the best right here in the Central West.

Organisers say they received many video applications, of a very high standard, in this the first year of the program.

Forbes teacher Kristen Woods said it was a wonderful achievement for these young dancers to be selected.

The students will get to take part in a full day workshop each month with guest teachers travelling to Bathurst, Orange, Dubbo and other regional areas.

Confirmed teachers at this stage are, Veronica George Beattie, Sally Hare, Natasha Crane, Neale Whittaker, Stephen Tannos, Amy Campbell and Thomas Egan.

All very renowned people in the dance industry with much to offer these lucky students.

Jenna, Fletcher, Matilda and Lauren travelled to Orange for their first workshop on Sunday February 4.

They had lessons in jazz, hip hop and musical theatre.

“I believe this is a fantastic opportunity for these students living in regional areas as it can be quite difficult for them to attend events such as this which are often held in capital cities,” Ms Woods said.

“All four students of KDS are very keen and dedicated young dancers with a lot of talent to share with the world.

“The skills and confidence they will gain learning from these industry professionals, each who specialise in specific genres will be very advantageous to their development in dance.

“I am extremely proud of their efforts and am excited to see where it takes them in the future.”
