He spoke to a combined meeting of the clubs in April and came across as someone well versed in Local Government having previously being General Manager at Warrumbungle Shire whose offices are based at Coonabarabran.
But he is also a former Stock and Station agent in Dungog and the was President of the Australian Saleyards Association and has been a breeder of Brahman cattle.
And he also knows a bit about Probus having been a former member of Rotary.
He mentioned that before coming to Forbes he knew personally former Mayors, Alistair Lockhart and Ron Penny.
At present he said there were 20 vacancies on Council but that that some are natural attrition due to people leaving Forbes etc.
And Council now no longer has four but three Directors to oversee Departments.
“No one is being made redundant,” he said.
“In fact, we have not long ago created a new position that of a Learning and Development Officer.“
Steve said he was the fourth General Manager at Forbes Shire Council in four years.
During the men’s business meeting, David Palmer was a visitor and it was announced that Paul Kay would be guest speaker at today’s men’s meeting.
