More than 860 in Forbes for Grazing Down the Lachlan | What’s on

Under creative director, television chef Mark Olive, Grazing has been in the planning for a year and it all comes together this weekend.

This is only the second of what looks sure to become an annual gourmet foodie event, raising funds for the Somewhere Down the Lachlan sculpture trail.

Tickets sold out in just four days, and a small team of volunteers has been working tirelessly to put on something very special.

There are hand-made bags to carry everything guests need on the day, so there’s no rubbish or waste from the event.

There’s a gourmet menu, based on foods available within 50km, with matched beverages, to be handed out at food stations spread along 2.1km of the stock route by the Lachlan River.

Mark says the local Indigenous story will be told, in a unique way, as guests wander and dine.

The forecast is for mostly sunny weather, a cool morning giving way to a balmy afternoon with a top of 26 degrees. It’s a mixed blessing for Grazing chair Wendy Muffett. 

“We’re delighted to have such a forecast to showcase our beautiful natural environment,” Mrs Muffett said.

“But we would also happily tell our guests to bring their gumboots and join us in a rain dance.” 

For Grazers, the weekend begins Friday night with the “meet your makers” at the Forbes Town Hall. 

Hosted by Grazing's Creative Director, Mark Olive with a panel of farmers, the event sommelier and a few other shakers and movers, drinks and nibbles available to purchase from 5pm for a 6pm start.

Friends of Grazing need to bring along their tickets for free entry. Q&A tickets can be purchased for $20 online in advance, no tickets will be sold at the door.
