Johnny Woods Crossing will be closed to all traffic for a week as council replaces the culverts.
There's been work at the crossing, with closures during work hours, since May as the council upgrades it as part of the Lake Activation Plan funded by the NSW Public Spaces Legacy Fund.
New footpaths, culvert extension and enhanced weir gate were all part of the plans, now they'll also be replacing the existing culverts that have been found to be structurally compromised.
The road will be closed 24 hours a day from Monday, 14 July to Tuesday, 22 July, to allow for the excavation of the existing pavement, installation of new culverts, pouring of a new concrete road pavement, and adequate time for curing.
The council had earlier advised The Advocate they were extending the time frame for works on site to the end of July to replace an ageing water main on the downstream side of the crossing.
This critical trunk main, which is estimated to be up to 100 years old, presented an ideal opportunity for replacement while the area was already disturbed and plant and equipment were on site.
This addition has extended the schedule with civil works now expected to be completed by the end of July.
