The free community event planned for 7pm at Albion Park will also mark the official opening of the Sculpture Forbes competition and a total of six sculptures will be unveiled.
These include the five sculptures entered in the acquisition section of the Sculpture Forbes competition, one of which is the Pyramid sculpture by Gillie and Marc.
Somewhere Down the Lachlan Sculpture Trail founder Rosie Johnston encourages everyone to go along to see the sculptures.
“You will get to see the Pyramid Sculpture in all its glory, so we can actually get to see what all the fuss is about,” she said.
“Of course it will be very exciting to hear which sculpture will win the $20,000 acquisition prize.”
The winner of the $20,000 Sculpture Forbes acquisition prize will be announced on the night by Member for Dubbo and Minister for Arts, Troy Grant.
Member for Orange Andrew Gee will also be in town to celebrate the launch.
The sixth sculpture to be unveiled is the large, red three dimensional ‘a’, the first letter of the Amazing Project.
“I think it will be a real wow factor in the park,” Ms Johnston said.
The event will be a fun family affair with great music and food and drinks available for purchase, including wine and beer.
Ms Johnston said the Vandenberg Hotel, Freshwater Dining and Cannibal Coffee will have all your food and drink needs covered.
“We will have some outdoor heaters if it’s a little cold and if that’s the case, Mick Thornett will do a great business selling lots of coffees,” she said.
An exciting addition to the night will be a 20 minute video produced by Ms Johnston which will be playing in the background at the park and will feature many well-known locals.
“We are going to project it on the huge wall there,” Ms Johnston said.
“It’s the closest thing we could get to our own Vivid.
“You may even see yourself in it as there are a lot of Forbes happy faces giving the thumbs up to the Somewhere Down the Lachlan project.”
There are a few more surprises planned for the night, one of which will feature drovers on horses.
Ms Johnston said it’ll be a great night, not to be missed.
“If people go to the launch, I believe they will not only have quite a bit of fun (as there will be a few surprises), but I think they will get a better understanding of what we are trying to achieve and how authentic we are about making this project quite unique and world class in quality,” she said.
“I really hope people will sneak away from their comfy homes after a hard days work and come down at 7pm, as for the launch to really work we need heaps of people to create a great and festive atmosphere.”
Ms Johnston is thrilled that the project has come this far and is finally coming together.
“I can’t believe it’s all really happening,” she said.
“It is true what they say ‘from little things big things grow’. The project has slowly and steadily gathered momentum and now it has come to fruition with the first sculptures appearing.
“We still have lots of plans of course and a big vision…[but] nothing is impossible. If the community all start spruiking a bit more to the wider region it will have a snowballing effect.
“Just the fact we now have the pyramid and the ‘a’ in Albion Park is enough to make visitors to our town do a quick detour through the CBD and you never know...they may find they want to hang around a bit longer.”
