Nick and Jolene Jones together with their children Griffin, Ruby, Ivy and Jimmy were stopped in their tracks when they came face to face with their own life size images on the side of a bus parked at St. Laurence’s.
Little Ivy Jones couldn’t believe her eyes. “That’s me!” she said pointing to her portrait on the side of the bus.
The bus which was purchased by the Catholic Education Office (CEO), for the Sacred Heart Parish School in Broken Hill, was sign wrapped by McSigns Orange, who worked closely on the design with CEO Media and Marketing Officer, Tricia Ward.
Tricia’s design required a family to photograph, and thanks to St Laurence’s, the Jones’ volunteered. Tricia said she was thrilled with the finished product.
“It looks better than I had hoped it would. The Jones family were an absolute pleasure to photograph. They are such a helpful family, and we can’t thank them enough for stepping up when I was searching for a family to photograph.”
Nick and Jolene thought the signwriting was impressive. “The bus looks amazing,” Nick said, “We were happy to help out.”
Following a Principals Conference held last week, Director of Catholic Education, Mr Anthony Morgan, presented the keys of the bus to Principal of Sacred Heart, Mr Trevor Rynne, who then drove the bus home to Broken Hill.
“It is a wonderful gift,” Mr Rynne said. “Having our own bus means we can now coordinate a school bus run that covers the far reaches of Broken Hill, making it easier for parents to access Sacred Heart for their children’s education.”
The bus was promised to the Sacred Heart community by Mr Morgan at the school’s annual presentation night last year.
“I could see many benefits for the school to have their own bus, but none as important as giving educational choice to Broken Hill parents for their child’s education … we want to make sure that getting their children to and from school is an easy process.”
