The volunteers have set up a disaster relief office in the HACC Centre from 10am to 2pm each weekday.
“What we’re offering is probably a drop in the bucket compared to what you’ve lost in this event but we can help and will continue to help while ever there are people in need of help,” said local coordinator Peter Bright.
They have vouchers that can be spent on food, water, clothing, footwear and medical supplies. In the first round of assistance, they can offer $100 per adult and $50 per child.
Additional vouchers will be available for fuel, food and fencing. These funds, released by the Australian Lions Foundation, are available until the allocated grant is fully distributed.
“You may not feel that anyone knows or cares about what you’re going through but we care and we are here to help,” Mr Bright said.
“If you don’t feel comfortable visiting us at the HACC Centre, give our local coordinator a call on 0419 463 803 and we can sit at a park bench or coffee shop.”
