The Eugowra all-rounder was named Western School Sports Association’s Junior Sportsperson for 2016.
The award is for the most outstanding representative from years 3 to 9 … and Jake was only in Year 6 at the time.
He was also awarded Eugowra Public School’s Patricia Capes Award for sporting excellence.
Jake participated in swimming, cross country and athletics at a representative level last year.
He was age champion at the Small Schools Athletics carnival after winning his 800m, 200m and 100m races, high jump and long jump.
He competed at the Lachlan District Athletics carnival, winning his 100m, 200m, senior and PP5 relays to go on to the PSSA western trials in Dubbo.
Jake won the Small Schools cross country event and placed second in the Lachlan District run.
Outside school sport, he has achieved great results in motocross racing.
Jake won the 9-11 years Riverina Interclub Warnabrook MX Series Champion for 85cc and won at all four club meets – Leeton, Young, Holbrook and Tumbarumba.
He was the 85cc 9-11 years champion in Young, winning all six rounds of the competition.
Jake represented at Orange, Canberra and Lakes State Motorcross titles – in each he raced in the top 15 out of 40 in the state.
He placed ninth of 36 rides at the Coffs Harbour Stadium motocross championships even after a fall in the second race affected his overall placing.
Jake is now in the running for the overall Junior Sports Achiever Award at the Forbes Sportsperson of the Year dinner.

The awards being contested include: Junior & Senior Sportsperson; All Rounder; Coach/Trainer; Referee/Umpire/Official; Administrator; Team and; of course the Forbes Sportsperson & Runner Up for 2016.
The overall winner of the Central West Credit Union Monthly Achievers Award will also be announced on the night along with: The President’s Award; Phillip Adams Encouragement Award; Merit Awards; School & Special Sports Awards.
