And part of the proceedings is the awarding of the Woodburn Trophy to the person voted by members who they deem has contributed in an outstanding way to the club in the previous 12 months.
Because the format of the morning’s program still takes in the usual business until morning tea, the elections and Woodburn Trophy selection will be made after the break and therefore there will also be no guest speaker.
In the interests of the club it is hoped all members will be present for this very important meeting.
And if we get the same sort of roll-up as was present for last month’s meeting everyone will be more than happy.
One has to wonder whether the word had gotten around that Jack Woodburn would be speaking at last month’s meeting because the Scot born Aussie who has a great sense of humour and is a born raconteur, had members engrossed as he spoke on going on a trek on horse in the Victorian High Country.
Jack did this with the use of a myriad of pictures on a screen and I think at times he had some who fear heights looking at the floor instead of the screen.
It was fascinating stuff as he and a small team, some of whom were also from Forbes, scaled country probably more fitted to mountain goats and with steep dropaways in some areas.
Some of the trips are nine days and the riders stay overnight either in tents or old homesteads still dotted along the way.
Clearly by the enthusiasm with which he spoke, Woodburn loves the entire adventure and goes back time and again and he has obviously passed his love on to locals such as Pip Perry, Wendy Muffet, Juliette and Dave Hodder who have accompanied him.
