Numbers showed a reduction Monday’s cattle sale at Forbes’ Central West Livestock Exchange and quality was also reduced.

There were a larger percentage of plainer cattle yarded, though there were still a few better finished lines available.
Yearlings made up the majority of the yarding and grown cattle were limited. The usual buyers were present and competing in a firm to easier market.
Yearling steers to feed were back 4c to 7c/kg.
Middle weights sold from 320c to 383c and heavy weights received from 317c to 358c/kg.
Those to processors held firm to 2c easier to range in price from 309c to 333c/kg.
Light store steers to restockers reached 414c/kg.
Yearling heifers to feed were back 6c to sell from 293c to 339c/kg. Those to processors received from 280c to 330c/kg.
Heavy steers and bullocks held steady to receive from 295c to 333c/kg. Grown heifers reached 290c/kg.
Cows were firm to 2c better with heavy 2 score from 220c to 233c and 3 scores 236c to 245c/kg
Sheep and lamb sale
Numbers dropped at Tuesday’s sheep and lamb sale with both lamb and mutton showing the decrease.
Lamb quality was improved slightly from the previous sale with some better lines of finished lambs offered.
Heavy and extra heavy weight lambs made up the majority of the offering.
The usual buyers were present and competing in a firm to dearer market.
Light lambs held steady to sell from $118 to $123/head.
Trade weights were firm to $4 dearer with prices ranging from $125 to $152/head.
Heavy and extra heavy weight lambs were firm to $3/head better.
Heavy lambs made from $147 to $166 and extra heavies received from $161 to $212/head.
Carcase prices averaged from 618c to 644c/kg cwt.
Mutton numbers halved and quality was very mixed.
Merinos made up the majority of the yarding and prices eased. Merino ewes sold from $101 to $176/head.
Crossbreds received from $113 to $179 and Dorper ewes sold from $105 to $160/head.
Merino wethers ranged in price from $116 to $168/head.
