37-year-old Bronson Anderson pleaded guilty before Forbes Local Court to larceny after taking a white Telstra Tempo mobile phone which a patron had left behind in the gaming room.
CCTV footage revealed Anderson placing the phone in his pocket on the evening of May 16.
When confronted by police several days later, Anderson told officers “I found it and was going to hand it in.”
On retrieving the device, police found the original sim had been taken, messages had been erased and the accused had placed his name in the contacts.
Magistrate Stewart described Mr Anderson as having a “lengthy, lengthy history of matters of dishonesty.”
He agreed ten months was the appropriate suspended sentence.
