The John Rice Fundraiser was a success with many turning up on the day.
For the last few months John has been recovering from surgery due to having a brain tumour.
John has been the backbone of the club’s bands for many years, always ready to help any artist and supporting the younger members at many talent quests and musters.
Well I am proud to say we were able to raise $2,059. Plus Forbes Country Music Club donated a further $1000 out of love for what John has contributed to the Forbes Club over the years.
Main donations on the day were: Guitar by Tom O Reilly, $100 Gift Voucher Landers Music Orange, Bottle Rum & Dinner for 4 Gooloogong Hotel, Quilt Wendy Dixon, Blanket Yvonne Hynes, Cake & Bottle Wine Annette Spice, Ornament Val Radburn. Thanks to everyone also who contributed and to all Forbes Country Music members and committee workers, you all did well.
Muster news: Our guest artist on September 10 is Cowra local Melissa Robertson. Melissa has been singing and writing songs for a few years now, releasing her first album in 2016 which reached the top 5 on the Australian Country Music Charts.
Melissa’s music is probably best described as country with a folk lilt – it is gentle, beautiful and heartfelt. Come along and meet Melissa and have a great day from 1pm at the Services Memorial Club. Admission $5.
Forbes Country Music Club is gearing up for the Bedgerabong Country Music Campout from October 3 to 10. More on this to come.
