Forbes’ River Arts Festival’s community celebration was another spectacular display of music and art, culminating in the lantern parade and music from local and visiting bands, Bedgerabong school and Canberra Opera guests.

River Arts Festival chair Margot Jolly said numbers for the Saturday were down on previous years which could have been due to the weather.
Lantern sales for the Light the Night lantern parade raised $1,600 for the Leukemia Foundation and a large number of spectactors turned out to participate in and enjoy it.
The River Arts Festival has been running all through the month of September with art workshops and exhibitions.
There were also workshops on offer throughout Saturday in the newly opened Generocity theatre space.
It wraps up this weekend with a free community arts symposium has a specific focus on ‘being bold’ – people, ideas and approaches that step outside the traditional or take big leaps in regional arts making.
It’s a free event open to the whole community at the Saturday 30 September, 10.15am to 1pm at Forbes Services Club, Templar St Forbes.
Special guest speaker will be Alex Wisser, director of the always bold Cementa contemporary arts festival and program in Kandos.
Mrs Jolly would also like to encourage members of the community to get involved for the planning and development of the next River Arts Festival which will take place in 2019.
