A 57-millimetre fall of rain late in the week failed to stop the Narromine race meeting on Saturday on a track officially rated a heavy 10 but deemed safe for racing.

Feature race the Bourchier's Macquarie Valley Fuels Dandy Cup (1200 metres) was won by Bowie's Babe owned by Brett Bowman from Coonabarabran and trained at Tamworth by Melissa Dennett.

Riding in great form, apprentice Clayton Gallagher finished best to score by a long neck from Long Lasting (Tony Cavallo, $81).

Narromine attracted a big crowd to see outstanding racing including a fine performance by the Richard Jackson, Walgett trained Quietly Confident in the Agrigrain Benchmark 53 Handicap,1600 metres.

Patiently ridden by Hawkesbury based apprentice Chelsea Ings, Quietly Confident ($18) ran home strongly from the tail of the big field to beat Magic Over The Bay (Robbie Dolan, $5).

Local trainer Wayne Collison had success when Dragon Bells (Clayton Gallagher, $18) burst through the pack to account for Te Ropa Lilly (Chelsea Ings, $101) in the Golden West Holden Maiden Plate, 1300 metres.

After eight placings the George Wright, Parkes trained Got Nothing broke through to win the Dubbo City Toyota Maiden Handicap, 1100 metres.

Challenged in the straight, Got Nothing (Chris Williams, $2.40 fav.) then cleared out to win by over three lengths from Special Strike (Andrew Banks, $26).
