Forbes Golf Club junior Cameron McMillan will be joining him when he tees off in the NSW Open Junior Pro-Am on the Wednesday immediately before the first round.
McMillan will get to experience the 18-hole championship course in full tournament condition alongside an Australian PGA Tour star before the championship begins on November 16.
He was nominated by Forbes Golf Club and one of 74 lucky juniors selected from hundreds of applications.
The Year 10 Red Bend Catholic College student, who plays off a handicap of five, has had a successful year on the golfing greens.
Last month he was awarded Athlete of the Year 2017 Golf at the recent Western Region Academy of Sport (WRAS) presentation in Bathurst for his consistently excellent performance throughout the year.
The WRAS is one of 11 regional academies in NSW that provides support to talented athletes in regional areas. The golf squad is coached by professional Bruce McLean.
McMillan is also a member of Jack Newton Junior Golf which gives him an opportunity to play the Junior Jack Newton tournaments on some of the best courses in the state and against some of the best golfers.
Some of the highlights of the junior’s year included competing in the State Age championships at Shelley Beach and the South Coast junior masters where he came 12th in the under 18s.
He spent his most recent school holidays competing in the Srixon International with juniors from across the world.
John Betland bagged his place in the 2017 NSW Open at Twin Creeks Golf and Country Club after a thrilling playoff win in the Forbes Open.
Betland, who also plays Major Pennant for Moore Park in Sydney, needed every bit of his local knowledge to get the better of his fellow Moore Park teammate, Maitland’s Hayden Gulliver after both players posted two under par rounds 70.
The play-off had the drama of a major tournament with fellow golfers and spectators clearing the clubhouse to witness the action late on the Sunday afternoon of the final round.
The NSW Open is on from November 16-19 .
