Recently I had a short stay in hospital. What a great asset to our town it is. I am so glad now that it is right here on our doorstep and not at Tichborne or the Northern suburbs. All the staff were fantastic and very professional.

I got a lot of tips: for my breathing they suggest that I walk in the fresh air down by beautiful Lake Forbes; for my bones I should stretch and do weight bearing exercises in the sunshine; for my blood I need to drink lots of water and keep breathing deeply; for my brain try to test myself outside my comfort zone and solve problems.
And so I got to thinking, I can do all of the above by playing bowls!
Sadly missed: This week sadly we miss two of our long-time friends and great supporters in Ron Goodger and John Reid. Our thoughts and prayers are with their families and friends.
A and B Pairs: The A & B Pairs is down to the pointy end. Viv Russell and John Williams came through with a tight 14:13 win over Pete Brogan and Brian Tisdell after 21 ends. Viv and John now face the two Waynes, Burton and Moon in the final.
Mixed pairs: By Leisa Burton. Ann and Peter Mackay had a win against Peter Brogan and Pam Stevens. Ann and Peter will now play Anne Walker and Rob Priest in a semi-final. Brian and Annette Tisdell also had a win against Leisa Burton and Alf Davies. Brian and Annette will now play Connie Skinner and Brian Asimus in the other semi-final.
Wednesday at One: Wednesday at One continues to prove popular. We often welcome travelling visitors and they are fascinated with the happy mix of learners and legends. There is just one match that I would like to report on where Ray Dunstan and Wayne Burton had a 22 all draw with Kerry Dunstan and Alf Davies. Well done gents and thanks to those who call the cards when I am away. Our little Christmas party will be Wednesday December 13 with bowls at 10.
Thursday arvo: From the week before: Allan Hilder and Darryl Griffiths 29 defeated Ron Symons and Grant Lambert 20. John Baass and Scott McKellar 25 defeated Cherie Vincent and Peter Mackay 23. Harvey Elliott and Peter Brogan couldn’t find the Bowls Notes last week, they were looking for their 29:19 win against Merv Langfield and Greg Mowbray. Christian West, our newest full member, and Lyall Strudwick 27 defeated Max Vincent and Viv Russell 12.
Then last Thursday’s results are: Cherie Vincent and Viv Russell 34 defeated Max Vincent and Greg Mowbray 10. Paul Hodge and Cliff Nelson 27 defeated John Baass and John Cutler 20. Merv Langfield and Pete Brogan 18 defeated Harvey Elliott and Lyall Strudwick 15. Christian West and Darryl Griffiths 22 defeated Allan Hilder and Tony Bratton 17. Ralph Waugh and Grant Lambert 23 defeated John Ashcroft and J Gilson 18. Well done to all players.
Friday night: The week before we had a Jack Attack match to see how it is played. Last week was back to the normal format which will continue. I was asked to note that Rooster’s team in Bedgerabong 1 had a good 25:5 win over Bedgerebong 2. Rooster was nominated as Man of the Match.
Introductory promotion: New younger players are invited to the new game of Jack Attack. It will be played separate to the normal Friday Night Bowls on another green. Commencing on Friday November 10 there will be lots of incentives. Names by 6 for a 6.30 start. It’s fast and it’s a lot of fun with teams of three or individual names.
From the committee: Nominations will be called for shortly for the 2018 Championship Fours in both Minors and Majors. Plan your teams.
A combined presentation evening will be on the deck on Thursday December 7 from 6pm.
