Saturdays 4BBB Stableford sponsored by Forbes Advocate Winners were Bess Shields and Barb Drabsch on a Countback from Jenny Fletcher and Debbie Tilley 42. The Frank Spice Nissan Stroke and Stableford event on Sunday saw 30 Ladies take to the field with nine visitors from far and wide, the Ladies only had one Division however plenty of prizes to be won.

The Scratch Winner was Melissa Russell from Dubbo with 84 with Runner Up being Lyn Bennett from Perth 86.

Our local Jenny Fletcher 67 took the Handicap from Colleen Venables 70. Stableford Winner was Judy Hodge 38 points. Runner Up Verna Lane 36 points on a count-back. NTP 18th Bess Shields, ninth Kerry Stirling. Third Julie Hurkett who just missed a hole in one. Congratulations to those that enjoyed success.

The Stableford held on Wednesday, November 15 results will be in next weeks paper. As the course is in such good shape this Saturday is the much sort after Xmas Cake Day Sponsored by Beatrice Beagle so I am sure there will be a good role up and Kerry is on cards. 

The same evening is the Mixed presentation night at the Golfie. Next Wednesday 22nd Ladybird Boutique sponsor a Stableford in One Division and Bev is on cards.

How good was the weekend Nissan Classic? Some records were broken while we were just short of the 200 player mark for Sunday's individual. However, taking in Friday's comp and social rounds it is estimated that around 460 rounds of golf were played the three days.

That in itself could be a record and great for the FGA account. A report on the great win by Peter Nixon appeared in Tuesday's Advocate so today we will look at how the classic appeared on and off the course.

As classic committee chairperson Randal Grayson said it appears next year will be even bigger with accommodation by some weekend visitors already booked. It can be reported that Mark Hale, from Mudgee who appears in this weekend's NSW Open along with our own John Betland, made a statement matched by others stating saying he will have a bus load here next year. That is great news while it was also mentioned that more Western Australia golfers will come after the weekend appearance and good time by Bennett family from Perth.

the Temora boys will be back next year plus the groups from Penrith, Cabramatta and Nelson Bay. There are many reasons as to this. The simplicity of the tournament, the efforts by 'Jack', Darren and volunteers in setting up a course which was raved about all weekend. 

The spectacle of the Nissan vehicles around the course and promotional thinking by Mick Spice and Troy Hurford, the crane from Billy Knight's with Australian flag flying seen from all corners of the course and of course the highway, the tractor display from Forbes Machinery under the guidance of Ken Sly, plus more.

All simple things adding to the game, and the way some played that's a good thing. For all this to happen you can also add to the above with simple little areas of help over the weekend. How good did our Golfie Hotel host, Ash (Tucker) and staff go?

Top shelf with service from the bar and bistro, and great comments regarding lunch on Sunday. Similarly, our club pro Simon (Houston) was as busy as a bee with what appeared a hundred jobs with the best effort the ladies who manned the half way house for him.

Also over the weekend others off the classic committee put up their hand to help. Members like 'Didget' McAuliffe helping to cook the Saturday barbie, and selling tickets, little things which made life a bit easier for others, Gordie (Hurray) helping to start the field on the first tee.

Very vocal to say the least but he had all on time. There are naturally others, and to all thanks from the FGA and classic committee.Again, as Randal keeps pointing out the classic would not go ahead without sponsor support.

So without mention of four putts, balls out of bounds, air swings, mis-hits, colourful attire etc below are all the weekend results in full for the 2017 Nissan Classic. Remember runner-up in some grades may not necessarily have the second best score as trophy values take in nett and Stableford scores.
