The scarecrows were part of a competition in conjunction with an open day at the gardens, with the public invited to cast their vote while having a look around the gardens and picking up something for home too.

The scarecrow competition was separated into Junior and Open categories.

Lee Reynolds’ scarecrow took out first place in the Open category, while Lucinda Wright won first place in the Junior category.

The open day also saw the announcement of the best individual veggie garden within town.

Bailey Gaudie won first place in the Junior category, Denis Irvine took out first place in the Senior category and Amanda Prince won the Open category.

The gardens are open from Monday to Saturday from 9am to 11am depending on the availability of volunteers, look out for the “open” sign.
