Then in the finals Brian and Annette came from behind in the last end to defeat Anne Walker and Rob Priest by just two shots. Thank you to all who played the mixed pairs and to the mixed committee for the organisation.
Wednesday at One: Last Wednesday we had just 16 players. Don’t forget to spread the word and invite some new players, or some old ones will do. We welcome Rex Toole as a new Wednesday player. Barry Shine declared that even Ray Dunstan’s bad shots were good ones.
We pay tribute to the old master Col Breaden. Col had another resting toucher last Wednesday and is still a consistent supporter of bowls no matter what time of the day or night it is on. Thanks Col. Just a reminder to let me know numbers for the Christmas party on Wednesday 13th when we play from 10am. The party/Lunch will start after 12 noon.
Thursday arvo: Last Thursday 16 keen players took to the greens. Peter Brogan and John Cutler had a win over Paul Hodge and Al Phillips. Christian West and Viv Russell defeated John Williams and Graham West. Cherie Vincent and Peter Mackay scored well against Greg Mowbray and Grant Lambert. Merv Langfield and John Kennedy stayed ahead of Max Vincent and Ron Thurlow. Well done players keep it up.

Sunday morning bowls: By John Stringer. Thirty two bowlers played the final of the Gaitor Merritt trophy. Daughter Angi won the trophy after trying for 14 years. There were emotional scenes from the family when the winner was announced by Kate. The runner up was Alan Afflick.
The winning rink went to Jan Waugh and John Cutler. The losing rink went to Paul Hodge and Peter Durkin. There were five good bowlers with resting touchers: Alan Afflick, Peter Greenhalgh, Alan Smith, Ralph Waugh and Tara Lee Shaw. See you next Sunday.
Bentick trophy: The Bentick Trophy is progressing well with three games played last Sunday. Russell Hodge beat Ron Thurlow, Alan Phillips beat Paul Baker and Connie Skinner beat Allan Hilder. All three games came down to the last end so well done to the handicappers.
From the committee: The fours, Major and Minor, are open for nomination now. Please get your team together and put your names down.
Don’t forget the combined presentation evening on Thursday December 7 at 6pm.
