We were treated to garden tours in and around Milton and Berry.
Out of Milton we visited the garden Kringen home of ex-Forbes residents Anna and Bob Flynn, who made us welcome to their lovely garden of plants and trees created from a bare paddock restoring rainforest and raising trees from seed.
Others we saw were an old schoolhouse being restored and orchard of fruit and berries and a more formal garden with lawns, native bushes and exotic plants.
Our evening venue was the Mollymook Lifesaving club, the meeting place of Ulladulla garden club.
Travelling to Berry for a full day trip took us up to Woodhill Mt to a spectacular garden overlooking the coast.
After morning tea we toured this steep garden of magnificent trees and variety of plants interspersed with interesting sculptures.
Coming down to Mr Oke’s 40 year old garden filled with kurume azaleas, camellias, conifers, rare maples grown from seed collected on visits to China.
After lunch in Berry Hotel we walked to Gaye’s cottage garden with more formal area of hedges Iris, and many perennial plants.
To top off the day we went near Coolangatta Mt to a unique garden and nursery with a large collection of rare palms, succulents, bamboo and even a large bottle tree which had been transported by crane from Queensland.
A Jazz band and Gatsby theme finished off our visit to the scenic south coast.
On our way home we fitted in a visit to the Crookwell garden festival, with a plant fair and great array of cool climate plants and trees.
